CURIOSA FILMS

GRAB THE POPCORN:

The Taste Of Things

This new release from French-Vietnamese director, Tran Anh Hung, is set entirely in the kitchen, dining room and grounds of the country chateau of the legendary gourmet chef, Dodin, in 1880s France. It was France’s submission for this year’s international Oscar category and it's not hard to see why; the slow-burn later-in-life love narrative is underpinned by artful cinematography.

On display this time is her iconic ‘I shop therefore I am’ print, as well as newer pieces where she combines text, audios and memes. Entry is free.

TAKE IN AN EXHIBIT:

Sargent + Fashion

Opening this week at Tate Britain is a fashion-led exhibit of the art of American artist, John Singer Sargent. Through his work, he used fashion to portray the personality and identity of his sitters, which now gives modern-day viewers an insight into the Edwardian-era luxury style of the time. The pieces range from dramatic to playful – the perfect place to lose a few hours on Saturday afternoon.
